Breaking News: Family History Library Security Concern Saturday

A couple in my neighborhood reported earlier today (Saturday afternoon) that they were turned away at the FamilySearch Family History Library for “a security concern.”

Michael John Neill reported on his Facebook page a couple of hours ago that “The Family History Library in Salt Lake is closed today, unexpectedly for unspecified reasons.”

I will let you know when I know more.

  1. Perhaps unrelated, but at least part of the FHL computer system was down from Thursday. Any attempt to order films or renew existing rentals resulted in a loop to sign in repeatedly. When I contacted Support, I was told to try again next week.

  2. I hope whatever the security concern or situation that caused concern will be remedied immediately. FamilySearch has been a wonderful help this past year with all the new and easily accessed resources!
