I’ve stumbled upon a way to see what new record collections FamilySearch might soon publish. In the FamilySearch wiki, search for [scheduled to become available] (without the brackets). Then look for titles containing “(FamilySearch Historical Records)” and check the article to see if it contains a header like this:
At the time I wrote this, I found, among others:
- Minnesota,_Obituaries
- Maryland,_Obituaries_from_the_Cumberland_Times-News
- Alabama,_Randolph_County_Circuit_Court_Records
- Texas,_Matagorda_County_Records
- Utah,_Salt_Lake_County_Records
- South_Carolina,_Charleston_Public_Library_Records
- Massachusetts,_Essex_County,_Deed_Books
- Connecticut,_District_Court_Naturalization_Indexes
- Rhode_Island,_Town_Clerk,_Vital_and_Town_Records
- Alaska,_Vital_Records
Some of these may already be available, but the wiki was not updated. As this is an unofficial way of discovering these collections, I imagine there is no guarantee of when, or even if, FamilySearch will get the collection published.
Thanks for the tip! I'll have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteThis absolutely great. It shortens the way of searching documents.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless a completion.
When I fill in “(FamilySearch Historical Records)” I got : "Results 1 - 20 of 13,836 for FamilySearch Historical Records" which is overkilling.
I am interested in The Netherlands so I put in search "FamilySearch Historical Records Netherlands" which results in the next : "Results 1 - 20 of 208 for FamilySearch Historical Records Netherlands" which is much more suitable.
Thanks for the tip.
